witch-guardian.
guardian: creature with the sole purpose of protecting witches from power theft and harm. their look is monstrous, and they're generally dangerous to approach as they are volatile by nature.
past rys: young magic user, grew up practicing with his best friend lush and learning together on the sly so they wouldn't be targeted when they were too young to defend themselves. ended up getting tracked down by hunters who killed his guardian and disabled hers, where rys sacrificed himself so lush wouldn't be caught by them.
present rys: distraught, after killing the group lush used forbidden magic to bring rys back from the dead. however with no vessel to put him in, she had no choice but to fuse him to her guardian.
currently: somewhere between human and monster, still functions largely as a guardian with no will of his own, with the occasional intrusive human thought here and there.
